We've introduced a new 'Sync Manager' in Cloud Stop Motion to make project-saving processes clearer and easier to monitor, which will help diagnose and resolve issues more effectively.

How to Access the Sync Manager

To open the Sync Manager, click on the icon located at the top right corner of the Cloud Stop Motion interface (as shown below).

The Sync Manager panel will then appear on the right side of the screen.

Understanding the Sync Manager

The Sync Manager displays each item as it is downloaded (retrieved) or uploaded (saved) from or to the cloud.

Status Indicators:

  • Green Tick: The item is stored locally on the device.
  • Blue Tick: The item has been successfully retrieved.
  • Yellow Tick: The item has been successfully stored in the cloud.

Before uploading, Cloud Stop Motion (CSM) tries to cache items locally on the device. This ensures that the data remains safe in case the browser crashes, refreshes, or the user logs out.

Handling Errors and Caching Limitations

If any issues occur during saving or retrieving, the errors will be displayed in the Sync Manager. Please be aware:

  • Local Browser Cache Issues: If Cloud Stop Motion cannot save to the local browser cache, any unsaved work will be lost if the browser is closed or refreshed.
  • Memory Usage: If local disk access is restricted, CSM will be forced to store images in the device’s RAM (temporary memory). This can lead to memory overload, potentially causing the browser to crash.

Best Practice

Keep a close eye on the Sync Manager while your students are working. If errors appear, proceed with caution, as this could indicate that data is not being properly saved. This proactive approach will help prevent data loss and ensure smoother project management.
